So, taking a class in electromagnetic fields are you? Looking at some wave equations? In this country someone majoring in communication engineering would be taking speech classes, not electromagnetic field theory.

Maybe it's the wrong word. Well, it has to do with information- and communication technology. What would be the right word?
But yes, you're right, it's an equation for the phase constant of a cylindrical hollow waveguide.
I wasn't criticizing your use of English. What I meant is that here in the US, a lot of our academic majors have inflated titles. In fact, a lot of our titles are inflated, period. For instance, the men who pick up the trash are called "sanitation engineers." In my mind, as an engineer, someone like you, who is majoring in communication, should be studying electromagnetics. However, in this country, "communication" is often used as a title for academic studies that have nothing to do with engineering, and are usually much easier fields of study. So, I was criticizing our over-blown titles, not your use of English. Sorry my reply created a misunderstanding.
